PARENTS:

· Welcome back to our new school year everyone and a very special welcome to our new parents! We hope you had a nice summer, that you managed to get some sunshine and that you have a successful and enjoyable year.

· Already life in school is fairly hectic. We have had our annual tests in reading and mathematics for our First Class children. Our parent/teacher meetings for this year currently taking place. You will receive or will have received a note from the class teacher giving you date and time of the meeting.

· On the back of this newsletter you will find the school calendar for the coming year. There may be additional closures, but as yet, we have no dates. We will let you know of any additional dates as soon as they come to hand.

· As you know, we are obliged by law to report any absences of in excess of twenty days to the National Educational Welfare Board. Please contact us giving the reason for absence on the first day of any absence and also when your child will be returning to school. This year we will continue to make a special effort to be at school every day.

· We continue to need your help and co-operation with parking. Please make sure that you are not parking in ‘no parking’ areas and you’re your car is not obstructing footpaths or entrances to private houses or business premises.

· Any parent who wishes to see the principal or a teacher at any time is very welcome to do so, provided an appointment has been made through the Principal’s Office. Every effort will be made to facilitate your request. You might also state the reason for the requested meeting.

· All callers to the school, for whatever reason, must first check in at the office,

· Watch out for news of courses for parents from Aoife, our Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator (HSCL)

· If you have a child starting school in September 2011, please complete an enrolment form as soon as possible as places are filling up quickly.

· Welcome back to our ‘Walk on Wednesday’. Well done. We hope you can come every week.

· Just a few ‘annual reminders’:

* Children to be in line in Hall at 8.45 a.m.

* Full school uniform to be worn except on P.E. day. If for any reason a child needs to wear a tracksuit at any other time, please inform the teacher of the reason;

*Children may wear track suits each day if they wish during the winter months – i.e. from November to St. Patrick’s Day;

*Provide your child(ren) with a lunch box for carrying the lunch and storing the leftovers.
