PARENTS:

· Children may wear tracksuits to school every day during the winter months (except on special occasions when they will be asked to wear uniform.)

· Parent Teacher Meetings are scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th November. School will close at 2.15 p.m. on that day. Look out for your notice. We look forward to seeing you all.

· Next meeting of the Committee of the School Parents Association, is planned for Tuesday, 29th November.

· Mr. Liam Kavanagh and Mrs. Margaret Fox have been re-elected to the Board of Management. Congratulations Liam and Margaret and thank you both for your input to the Board of Management.

· If you have a child starting school in 2012 or if you know someone who has, please make sure that (s)he is enrolled. Places are filling up very, very quickly.

· Confirmation Day is Wednesday, 14th March, 2012.

· Any parents who wish to have forms signed or letters written for any organisation (e.g. Health Services Executive, Department of Social Welfare etc.) must give at least three days notice.

· Thank you all for being so good about sending children into the Hall and then leaving the school. If children need to have clothes, bags, etc. adjusted, please do so before they enter the Hall. We look forward to your co-operation as it all makes life so much easier.

· We remind you that absences of children from school must be reported to the National Educational Welfare Board. The Board of Management of the School is also obliged to report any instances or concerns of child neglect or abuse to the Health Services Executive.

· We would appreciate it if you would not park on double yellow lines at or near the school when dropping off or collecting children. Our community garda, Garda Hugh has visited us and he says he is very cross about the way some people are parking.

· We are all very busy preparing for Christmas. Already we are getting our music and singing ready. We are also getting ready for singing with the orchestra at the ‘Peace Proms’ in January/February.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US *

*We had great fun at at the mid-term break. We came to school dressed up and had a parade.

*Girls from Room 5 are busy reading ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ which is the chosen book for Galway’s ‘One City one Book’ Project. They are really enjoying it. They will also visit the Library next week.

*Science Week is coming soon and we have Muinteoir Jane visiting or school to help us with our science. Muinteoir Jane used to work in the school at one time.

*Lots of girls are having fun with their ‘Maths Club’ at lunchtime when they play all sorts of maths games. We also had great fun during Maths Week.

* Lots of us have joined the City Library. We really like going to visit it and choose our own books.

*We are collecting old mobile phones and batteries which are no longer useful and passing them on to people who can make use of them. If you have any of these, please bring them into the school or the pre-school.

*This month we are especially remembering those we love who have died.
