NEWSLETTER

JUNE, 2011

PARENTS:

· Here we are again - the end of another school year and the final Newsletter of the year!

· School lunches for the year will finish on Friday next, 24th June. No lunches will be delivered next week so lunches will have to come from home. When we return in September, school lunches will be delivered from Monday, 12th September. Children will again have to bring lunches from home for the first days.

· All Book Rental Forms should by now be returned to Office and books will be ready for all in September. If you are not participating in the Book Rental Scheme, a Book List is available from the office.

· Thank you all very much for all your input to the school over the year and for your help and co-operation. As usual it was a very busy year, with June being a particularly busy month. Peer Tutoring, Shared Reading, Concerts, Sports, School Tour, a variety of after school activities and of course, International Day. Thank you very much to all the teachers who have worked so hard throughout the year to make these events so successful.

· We enjoyed your support on ‘International Day’ and thank you for the national costumes, the food and the materials you brought to the school.

· Still to come, our final Assembly when we say farewell to those who are leaving us. (Children attend school at usual times on these days.) Girls leaving us from Sixth Class have their final assembly and finish school on Monday next, 27th June. Our First Class Boys finish school here on Tuesday next, 28th June. Parents of sixth class girls and first class boys, look out for separate notification and invitation.

· Summer camps are ready to go on the week beginning Monday, July 4th.

· Congratulations to all the prize winners during the school year, especially to the girls in Rooms 5 & 12 and to their ‘múinteoirí’. We have had a very rewarding year.

· Congratulations to all the parents who completed courses organised by Aoife our Home School Co-ordinator.

· Thanks also to parents on the Board of Management and on the Committee of the School Parents Association who give their time for the benefit of all and who organised our uniform ‘Buy & Sell’.

· Watch out for summer activities in children’s section of Galway County/City Libraries.

· On our last two days at school, Tuesday 28th & Wednesday, 29th, we will have no uniform days when we wear whatever we choose. School will close for holidays at 12 noon on Wednesday, 29th June.

· We hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday and look forward to seeing you back on Wednesday, 31st August at the usual time of 8.45 a.m.

*WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US

*We have had our School Tour and we all had a wonderful day.

*Girls from Room 5 & 12 have been very busy working as Peer Tutors with children from Room 4 & 7. They did a great job and had lots of fun.

*We have two visiting teachers in the school – Muinteoir Katie in Room 4 and Muinteoir Nora in Room 9. We really enjoyed having them.
